The Trilogy Engagement Ring Style
This 3-stone style is a real sentimental piece with one diamond representing the present, one the past and one the future: the perfect symbolic connotation for what your engagement represents.
Setting for a Trilogy Ring
Normally the central stone is the largest and the other two are about half the size in relation to it. Normally clients request the same shape diamond or stone for all three but I have also designed some lovely pieces where the side stones were a different shape from the central diamond. Occasionally we have even combined the pave and trilogy to maximise the sparkle factor.
I always recommend that the main stone be at least 1 carat and the side stones be about 0.5 carats each. It is possible to go down to about 0.7cts for the centre diamond to fit your price point.
This ring style offers a wide range of design possibilities, and when you come to us with the idea to design your own engagement ring I can go through these with you.
We can talk anything from classic designs with three-claw set round brilliant diamonds to bezel-set fancy cut diamonds and I will give you options that will make you feel that your choices are endless.
Who Suits the Trilogy Ring?
If you want to design your own engagement ring for a lady who has a taste for the traditional but desires something a little different from the Solitaire, then this style is for you.
Recently I had a very indecisive gentleman come to me asking about rings for his future bride. He said that she was chairman of her local Women’s Institute but had always wanted to ride a motorbike and when I suggested the Trilogy, he thought it was perfect combination of classical with a slight edge of non-conformity.
The Price Point
The Trilogy style has a higher price point, as there are three principle diamonds on this ring. Having said that, I will always work with you as you design your own engagement ring, and if you have chosen the Trilogy style we will find a way to achieve the best balance between price point and aesthetic appearance.
This is a tough one to fit with wedding bands and may mean that a custom wedding band has to be made.
